  • Is the building clean and fresh smelling?
  • Meet the staff that will be caring for you not just the admissions staff.
  • Talk with the residents, ask about their experiences.
  • Ask about their approach to your plan of care and frequency of therapy.
  • Ask if you can sample a meal to make sure you enjoy the food.
  • Is the building staffed sufficiently?  What is the patient to aide ratio?
  • Is there visiting hours?
  • Make a second unannounced visit on the weekend.
